Liza Rizman, Ukraine
Meet Elizabeth Rizman, a remarkable woman whose journey spans across continents! In 1979, Elizabeth fled the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic with her husband and three children in pursuit of a peaceful life. With the help of the Israeli government, she found her new home in Australia, as far away from Ukraine and war as possible.
Despite being a qualified and experienced economist, Elizabeth had to take a job in a sewing factory when she arrived in Australia. However, with hard work, she provided for her family and grandchildren. Elizabeth was among 6 other migrant women who came together in solidarity to sell handmade products such as dolls, toys, and bears. Their success in gaining economic independence was responsible for forming the earliest foundations of SisterWorks.
Elizabeth is a strong believer in SisterWork’s mission; work empowers women. It is the key to unlocking your aspirations and supporting your family. With the money she received from selling her products, Elizabeth has travelled across the world! Today, she prides herself in living the dream at her age and continues to help other sisters grow and achieve their visions.
